Google Earth Bound CAGTI17

What is CAGTI? This is the acronym for California Geo Teacher Institute, one of many Google workshops held at one of their campuses. And it is by invitation only. Still adjusting to disappointment of not getting into the Washington DC Innovator Academy, and frustrated because the one in Sydney was being held the first week of school, I was more than a little thrilled to be accepted to this cohort. Held in Mountain View (bonus!) for 3 days, this was the highlight of my summer PD. The Google Campus is unbelievable. It’s everything you hear about and more. The toilets are an experience...

Another Great Summit

I am sure you know by now that I am obsessed with HyperDocs. This method of delivering my lessons has completely changed the way I teach and the quality of work my students are submitting. No, I am not a generous grader, my students are just turning in quality work. It’s so exciting that after almost 15 years of teaching I have finally hit a homerun in the classroom. I was always confident about my ability to teach, and I loved my classes, but now I feel like I am transforming what is being done in the classroom. I have to thank all of my Twitter PLN mentors, especially those at...

Oh, and then I used up all the space on my external hard drive so my media was every where which didn’t do great things for my render. However, each time I reloaded the template and started fresh I learned...

My First Google Summit

https://christinemonge.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Google-Summit-Preview.mp4 I am very excited to present at the Google Summit in Indio on January 30-31. These are great people. And I get to present on my two favorite topics – iPads and Google! They really do work together. I use Google Apps daily in my classroom and all my students have iPads. Part of working for a school that has been at the forefront of 1:1 iPad integration, means that I get to try everything the iPad has to offer. And being a Google trainer, I spend a lot of time figuring out how it works with Google. Not as...

Focus on One Thing

First, I need to thank my lovely and smart daughter for creating my new website. It’s great to have your own webmaster who loves you and owes your for paying her outrageous car insurance while she is in college. Among other things! Second, since becoming a Google for Education Certified Trainer I have been overwhelmed by a number of things. The first being how little I don’t know about Google. Really, I read the posts in the trainer forum and I feel completely dumb. Then going to a seminar with Alice Keeler-now I have really been humbled. I realize that I need to take the advice...
