We’re Live in 5, 4, 3, 2 New and Improved Website!

After much work I am ready to officially launch my new website created by the one and only Briana O’Hern (aka my daughter). I am so proud of her and her accomplishments. She is so smart and put in a lot of time to set this up for me in time for the latest Google Innovator deadline. My video and vision deck are submitted and the only disadvantage to getting it done early is that I now have a longer wait to find out if I make the Washington D.C. cohort. I have so many other plans for the summer. ISTE in San Antonio, EdTech Team‘s Master Class World Tour in Chicago, and hopefully...

Hyped-Up for Hyperdocs

It’s a movement. Lesson Design vs. Lesson Planning. It’s a book. It’s a website with a ton of resources. It’s an online course by EdTech Team. It’s what everyone is talking about. It’s changing the way teachers deliver their lessons. It’s Hyperdocs. I have blogged about this before but since I was asked to it again for a presentation in May, I thought I would go ahead and give an update on what I have learned since my last post on the topic. Since then I have probably delivered 4-6 presentations on the topic, getting more confident about it all the time. And I am getting ready to go in the...

Another Great Summit

I am sure you know by now that I am obsessed with HyperDocs. This method of delivering my lessons has completely changed the way I teach and the quality of work my students are submitting. No, I am not a generous grader, my students are just turning in quality work. It’s so exciting that after almost 15 years of teaching I have finally hit a homerun in the classroom. I was always confident about my ability to teach, and I loved my classes, but now I feel like I am transforming what is being done in the classroom. I have to thank all of my Twitter PLN mentors, especially those at...

5th (Or 6th) Time’s a Charm

I don’t know I lost count. I was using an After Effects template to create something for my Google Certified Innovator application video and I had to restart several times to get it to work. First it didn’t work on my PC, then my MacBook, then I botched a layer and couldn’t figure out how to fix it. Finally, I put it in the video and realized I left out a picture. Oh, and then I used up all the space on my external hard drive so my media was every where which didn’t do great things for my render. However, each time I reloaded the template and started fresh I learned...

Lesson Designing vs. Lesson Planning-Hyperdocs is the Answer!

The hot topic of the summer is Hyperdocs. The book published by EdTechTeam and written by Lisa Highfill, Sarah Landis, and Kelly Hilton is a hit as is their website Hyperdocs.co. I must give a shout out to Holly Clark who is an Educational Strategist for EdTechTeam and in charge of publishing. She’s promoting the hell out of the book for good reason-we need to change the way we approach teaching. I’m a big fan of Hyperdocs. I have used PlanbookEdu for years and love it. But I was looking for a simplified way to create my lessons in an all in one document, something…I don’t know. I was...
